London based Singer, Songwriter & Music Producer – Shehan Noel was born on the 6th of February 1986 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. His genre of music is Contemporary R&B.
Shehan’s passion for music started at the tender age of 5. As a child, he loved to sing along whenever an English song was broadcasted on the Sri Lankan Radio stations. As a teenager, he became involved in active sports such as Martial Arts, Cricket, Rugby, Swimming, Basketball and Squash, which he enjoyed immensely. Although, Shehan never took up music lessons, he had a natural flair for singing and songwriting. This advanced him onto the next step in his musical journey, which was to produce music for the songs he wrote and sang. To accomplish this task, he used a keyboard that was gifted to him by his grandmother. It wasn’t long before he realised he was a natural with the keyboard too, which he played by ear without any reference to printed notation. Shehan was a quick learner, he then self-taught himself to produce music.
In early 2007, Shehan decided to combine his singing, producing & songwriting skills to create his debut single. It was this decision, that kick-started his efforts to enter the music industry in Sri Lanka. He professionally started his singing career in December 2007 with the release of his debut single ‘Say Goodbye’, which was released as a music video on all the National TV channels. This song grew on to be quite popular in Sri Lanka. In 2008, Shehan started his own Music & Video Production Company ‘Atlantis Entertainment’ (now known as ‘SN Entertainment’) through which he instigated producing more music & writing more songs. While he continued to invest his efforts in composing & producing music, he concurrently built a good reputation as a musician in Sri Lanka.
The biggest step that Shehan took in his musical career was when he decided to leave Sri Lanka and move to London, UK, in October 2009. He worked smart for two years in the UK, whilst building his contacts in the British music industry.
In early 2012, Shehan managed to gain the attention of “Andy Whitmore” – one of the Top Record Producers in the UK, by showing off his singing, songwriting and music producing skills, to the music producing guru himself. Whitmore has produced 14 UK top-ten Hits including “Flava” by Peter Andre and “I’ve got a little something for you” by MN8. He also produced & co-wrote two tracks on Lemar’s triple platinum album “Time To Grow” & produced Atomic Kitten’s top 5 UK hit, “Ladies Night”. Eager to learn more from an established producer and further hone his own skills – Shehan began working with Andy immediately.
In May 2012, Shehan completed his debut single in the UK, “Girls to my Right”. However, he had no intention of releasing the track as an Audio production, since he wanted the touch of a Music video to it. He then got in touch with “Tony Allen” – who is currently the managing director of “Big Time Pictures” at the world famous Pinewood Studios to advance with the next step which was to get a Music video produced. (Pinewood Studios have played host to, many productions over the years from huge blockbuster films to television shows, commercials and pop promos and is well known as the home of the Carry On, Superman and James Bond (007) film franchises)
After successfully completing the 3-day shoot, Shehan released the Music video “Girls to my Right” on the 1st of September 2012 on YouTube. Within the first 2 weeks of its launch, his video reached 100,000 views on YouTube and crossed the threshold of 1 Million views in less than 2 months after its release. Shehan is currently working on an Album, which is due to be released through his own company SN Entertainment.
